What Is Microneedling In Laguna Beach CA
What Is It?
Micro-needling is a simple cosmetic procedure that involves a shallow puncture to the skin. These pricks are done with a set of very small sterilized needles. The goal is to promote the body’s natural collagen production for tighter, smoother skin. This is also called collagen induction therapy. That is exactly what we want to harness - the body’s repairing of these tiny holes created by Micro-needling. The more we do it, the better our skin can look - at any age.
What Are The Benefits?
Micro-needling is one solution for anyone wanting smoother, radiant, younger looking, and rejuvenated skin. Micro-needling can be done on even delicate areas of skin. Because it stimulates not only collagen growth but also hyaluronic acid production, it can help to reduce the look of scars, acne marks, dark spots, wrinkles, uneven tone, and sometimes even stretch marks. Micro-needling isn’t just for the face. It can be done anywhere you have skin. Don’t like the dark spots on the back of your hands? Want to reduce the appearance of cellulite? It even can help with alopecia. Well, a few sessions of Micro-needling may be just what you have been looking for.
How Does It Work?
When the body realizes there are “puncture wounds” in the skin, there is a message that is sent out. “We have to close up that hole” and the body does that with collagen. Micro-needling involves many small wounds to the skin. The body’s natural response is to create fresh, new tissue that is rich in collagen, which is exactly what can help plump up wrinkles or tired-looking skin.
Why Is It So Popular?
Many choose Micro-needling because there is no downtime when compared to other medical procedures. Since it is minimally invasive, and requires no recovery, the patient can go back to work or home and go on with their day provided they follow a few After-Care instructions.
How Many Treatments Do I Need?
That will depend on your goals and the general condition of your skin. Most need to start with 4 Micro-needling treatments, which are done every 3-4 weeks for 4 months. Some may need up to 8 treatments, but we have packages for any type of need. We take the time to answer your questions and put together a plan that you like. Packages offer the best pricing opportunity.
How Often Should I Schedule Maintenance Treatments?
Each session is scheduled every 3-4 weeks. This allows your skin to adjust to its new environment. In order to truly maintain the youthful results you got in your initial sessions, it is recommended to repeat Micro-needling sessions 3-4 months after your last appointment. Since the aging process continues, maintaining your results happens with these regular follow-up visits.
Are There Any Side Effects?
Anytime the skin is punctured, there may be a bit of redness, slight irritation, or even occasionally some small areas of bruising, which is rare. After the procedure, you may look as though you have a sunburn. Some of these issues may last up to 5 days, but most subside more quickly.
What Can I Expect?
We use a numbing cream for the comfort of the patient, which takes about 20 minutes to work. The Micro-needling device used will puncture the skin many times for the desired effect by skimming over the skin. Different serums can be used during Micro-needling, chosen based on the goals of the patient. The practitioner may send some of the serum used in your treatment home with you to quicken the results. You may look slightly flushed after the treatment, but that will go away. When finished, a face mask will be applied and left in place for a little while to calm some of the irritation just created. The patient may experience some mild irritation over the next few days. But that will subside soon. You will get After Care Instructions at the end of your first visit. Follow-up appointments can be made at that time.
Who Is A Candidate For Micro-needling?
Micro-needling can be used on any skin type and color. Ideal candidates will be healthy individuals without any type of infection in the treatment area. If you are not sure, a consultation with our doctor is the best way to determine if this treatment option is right for you.
Serums Used in Microneedling
Micro-Needling has been shown to increase your skin’s production of collagen and elastin. It can even increase the absorption of serums by up to 300% or more! We use the best ingredients in our Serums! Some of the common serum ingredients used here include Hyaluronic acid and Apple stem cells from the Uttwiler Spätlauber apple. It is a Swiss apple that was cultivated for its unusual ability to have a long shelf life, allowing it to remain “young and healthy” much longer than its genetic counterparts. Apple stem cells can actually stimulate renewal of facial skin cells by up to 80%! That is truly amazing! The Swiss apple helps to stimulate aging skin cells to combat outward signs of aging and can reduce the appearance of unsightly wrinkles, leaving younger, fresher-looking skin.
